SUMMARY:Waldron Fen Bird Walk with Little Traverse Conservancy
DESCRIPTION:\nJoin Little Traverse Conservancy on a walk around the Waldron Fen Nature Preserve led by Quinn Sommer Conservation Technician at LTC.\n\n\nAbout Waldron Fen: This LTC property, protected by Nancy and Jack Waldron in 2001 with their love for birds in mind, has long been a favorite spot for local birders. The peatland land has some pockets of open water, which may provide opportunities to view waterfowl and the managed native grasslands alongside provide habitat for meadowlarks, bobolinks, sandpipers, and American Kestrels. Virginia Rail and Sora have been seen there recently, too! There is nearly two miles of trail at the preserve. Most of it is relatively flat though there are some uneven areas and small tripping hazards such as from tree roots.\nWe’ll start at 8am from the parking area. Feel free to call the LTC office with any questions – 231-347-0991.\n\nAbout Quinn: Quinn is a new conservation technician at Little Traverse Conservancy. He has a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Michigan Flint campus and is a life-long birder. Last year he traveled across the country and saw over 400 bird species.\nDirections: From M-68 in Alanson, go south on Banwell Road until you get to the preserve entrance located on Banwell Road. Look for LTC sign\n
