Oden Fish Hatchery Tuesday Bird Walks
Enjoy Bird Walks at Oden Fish Hatchery on Tuesdays in May 2024, with Cynthia Donahey, Art Schoolmaster, Sue Kurtz and Tracy Datlen. Meet at the Visitor Center by the old train car 3377 Oden Road/US 31, Alanson. Explore the trails at the Oden Fish Hatchery in search of migrating and nesting birds. We will bird the evergreen and deciduous woodlands, as well as ponds, wetland habitats, and open areas near the hatchery buildings. Most trails are flat and broad. Allow 2 hours. Time is flexible and participants are free to leave at any time.
As always, all Field Trips are free, open to the public and lead by volunteers. Children are welcome under adult supervisions. Please dress appropriately for weather conditions and insects. Proper footwear is a must. Bring binoculars if you have them. If not, loaner pairs will be provided on a first-come first-serve basis. Unless a rain date is specified, bad weather will mean cancellation of the walk. That being said, we’re a hardy bunch. Lightning means a definite cancellation; but other than that, we stick with it as long as we can see through our binoculars. No pre-registration is required. Just show up. But be on time, once we leave the parking area, we may be hard to locate. Most walks take about 2 hours but participants are free to leave as their schedules (or stamina) allow. No smoking and no pets are allowed.
