Petoskey Audubon January 13 Virtual Program – Winter Birds and Ecology of the Eastern UP

Petoskey Audubon will host a virtual presentation about birds that winter in the Eastern UP from avid birder, Elliot Nelson, on Tuesday, January 13. Nelson will provide expert insights and updates on exciting birds, such as Snowy owls or Snow buntings, that can be found in the EUP this winter as well as reliable locations.

He will also discuss the fascinating winter ecology and adaptations that help these beautiful creatures survive the winter.

Nelson is an Extension educator with Michigan Sea Grant and Michigan State University Extension. His work focuses on promoting coastal economies and protecting Great Lakes ecosystems in the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan and across the state.

Nelson is based at the Lake Superior State University Center for Freshwater Research and Education (LSSU-CFRE) in Sault Ste Marie, MI, where he regularly works alongside LSSU-CFRE staff and partners. He was also Program Coordinator for the North Huron Birding Trail. Nelson designed the birding trail development plan and interpretive information and coordinated with local partners on completion of trail.

The program is hosted by Petoskey Audubon on Tuesday, January 13 on zoom at 7pm. The program is free and open to all interested people.   Join the program at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81933178232
