9 people walked about on a fine sunny day. They came from all points, north and south. Thanks to Bill for passing off the binocular bag before heading out of town.
We had what we thought were lovely, but out of place, looks at a suspected Northern Waterthrush. But on looking at Art’s pictures and seeing bill and wing bars, clearly it is a female Rose-breasted Grosbeak. That’s what you get when amateurs are in charge! There were several clear songs of a Northern Waterthrush near the old tanks to the northwest of the parking lot. This is a usual haunt for this species.
Art did catch a Eastern Wood Pewee somewhere near the end of the hike. Never heard. Here is the checklist https://ebird.org/checklist/S174465276
